Over the last few years, mobile users experience the even growing demand for wirelessly accessing the Internet over the mobile device for various services. The limitations of the 3G network capabilities motivates the researchers and engineers in the telecommunication industry to define novel air interfaces and system frameworks for high broadband services. The 3GPP LTE is a design to increase the overall system capacity, reduce the latency, improve the spectrum efficiency, and offer desirable Quality of Service (QoS) for broadband and high mobile users. In this talk, we discuss the LTE PHY, MAC, mobile IP-enabled network layer, and LTE security. The LTE downlink and uplink in PHY specify their modulation, multiplexing, and physical channel for improving the LTE network capacity. The spectrum efficiency and latency for the downlink and uplink are improved for supporting scalable LTE bandwidth utilization. LTE MAC layer is to establish the wireless link connecting the LTE UE and the eNodeB in such a way to effectively allocate the spectrum subcarriers for packet transmission in the PHY layer. This includes the definition of the downlink and uplink PDCP, RLC and MAC sublayer organizations. In spite of the LTE significant advances in offer high speed communication, the support of the fast deployment of such a LTE backbone for mobile users by using LTE is still known and no research work clearly addresses this problem. It renders many challenging issues and current LTE fails in addressing them.
